"Perfect" is a condition which I doubt I shall ever
attain with my orchestrations; but I appreciate the
kindness of your comments, my friend.

    David!

I missed this piece when you first posted it 1 1/2 years ago! I give heart-felt gratitude and appreciation to the member who resurrected this thread from deep within this forum! THANKS! Yea!

Of course, having only a few words to my "inner-personal word dictionary", I had to look up "delectation" and "woolgathering". I never, ever seen either of these words before. (I need to read more, I guess. ) What a very cool title, David!! And, like all of your other compositions, this piece seems to wonderfully capture the essence of the title. (Or is it that the title wonderfully captures the essence of this music. Which came first? The title or the music? LOL!) Anyhow, while listening to this piece, I can see in my mind someone, like myself, giving delight to many-a-wondering thought.

And. . . as always. . . I enjoyed listening to this piece. And, THANK YOU for sharing it 1 1/2 years ago!

    With warm regards,

    Ted

Thank you for spending so much time with the music, Ron!
    That's quite an undertaking.

    Might I suggest...

Well I am lieing about that last part (or am I???).
My sainted gran'daddy used to say, theft is the sincerest
    form of flattery... lol!

I enjoy all of the aspects of your music. The blindsiding that should have been expected and the expected becoming the unknown that gets you when you least expect it.
A very beautifully convoluted description, Ron (I mean
that) -- and an astute observation about music, generally.
Some of the finest moments are those which arrive
completely unexpectedly; yet seem inevitable, nonetheless.
That you find some of that element in my work, I find
    a great compliment.

All in all, a very satisfactory piece.

    Well done

    Ron
Many thanks, my friend, both for listening and for a
    thought-provoking moment...

I'm pleased that you did, Trent. A gentler, more reflective
piece, it's perhaps better suited to autumn than winter...

Reading through the replies somebody said something about “distinctive style”. That is a very true statement – even though this is different from some of your other works, if somebody played this for me “blind”, I would be able to tell it is yours within just a few measures.
Thank you, Trent; that's one of the kindest things you can
    say to a writer.

    Great work.
    Thanks for listening, my friend!

    Relax, Ron, relax... rofl!

Yes, I saw your post -- and thought it was both kind
and thoughtful, to tell you the truth.

But I'd already listened to and commented on quite a
few other posts before I got to my own, and, well,
what can I say -- I must be getting old -- sometimes
I just fizzle out before I can finish up everything I
would like to -- phhhhhhht... lol.

Wow, I just noticed the date on the first posting on this.
For some reason I thought it was only last year, not the
    year before.

I'm greatly pleased you had a chance to hear and took
    time to listen, my friend.

Oh, gosh, me and my titles. I admit it: They're sometimes
pretty well "out there"... lol. To answer seriously, I do take
time considering them. Generally I start with a concept for
a piece; sometimes with the title, too -- but more often
I have to puzzle over that, later; try to find just the right
words to encapsulate the idea if I can.

While I think a piece of music should definitely stand of its
own; to me, titles are important factors in setting the scene.

Terrific piece David - I really admire your imaginative abilities. This suggested comtemplation to me, little zephyrs of the mind taking you in different directions, in response to memory. Ok, I cheated and did read your comments, but does it makes sense to me.

Looking at your website - I admire your work ethic too (!)- or maybe its not the usual 99% work ratio for you.

You work with Finale is inspiring me to get back into notation (from sequencing). With a larger work I'm working on now, I'm finding it too hard to map out my ideas and orchestrations without a score. So many questions for another thread!

    Thanks again - very inspiring!

    Hello Gregory,

I see you are a newer member, Gregory. First and
foremost, a very warm welcome to the forum!

It's been a while, and I don't recollect exactly what
I said; but... I recall when trying to write it, constantly
scrapping the piece, over and over, trying to capture
    that peculiarly autumnal reflection...

Looking at your website - I admire your work ethic too (!)- or maybe its not the usual 99% work ratio for you.
No, it isn't. It's far worse. Around 110% perspiration
and 0.5% inspiration... rofl! Writing is extremely hard
    work for me.

I have no idea how people can work in a sequencer.
Score, I read like a newspaper, easily heard as I go --
but I look at a sequencer representation of music and
draw a dead blank. Yet, some of our finest, here, do
magnificent work without score, strictly in a sequencer.

Gregory, I think, in my case, I'm just an old dog who
can't learn new tricks (or at least not that one) --
but I'm most definitely one of the strongest proponents
of using what works for you.

    It's the results that count.

    Thanks again - very inspiring!
Thank you for listening, Gregory, and I'm pleased
that the work I and colleagues do here is inspiring
    you!

    My best,
