Dies Iræ - Requiem Mass - Belioz

Those who undertake such projects as arranging Belioz's "Dies Iræ" must not be faint of heart. In this arrangment Nigel Horn (http://www.bandsman.co.uk) has captured it for brass band in a stunning presentation befitting this massive work.

The Finale score employs the full range of brass from both the GPO and JABB libraries; 5 Cornets (Trumpets), 3 Horns, 2 Baritones, 3 Trombones, Euphonium, Eb Tuba, Bb Tuba, Timpani, Bass Drum and Cymbals. The trumpets also include use of cup and straight mutes.

A handsome adaptation on Mr. Horn's part, certainly.

    Well done.

Very nice rendintion of the Nigel Horn arrangment. It is a wonderful work indeed. You are right, it is not for the faint of heart. It must have taken quite some time to score this all into Finale. Thanks for posting this.

    Gary,

Thanks for kind comments on this rendition. Mr. Horne's efforts really paid off in the quality of the output. It really shows off how well the GPO/JABB works on this large scale piece.

    Very nice indeed.

This must have been a lot of work. The arrangement sounded good to me. And the performance also seemed very good and believable.

GPO and JABB work well together for this.
