    Three Voices

Last year, Papelmedia had a few soundfonts they were giving away as samples to get one to buy the whole bank. This soundfont of a soprano was quite appealing, especially for the price. This is the only thing I have written using it, and in style a bit different from some of my other posts/demos - the harmonies are simpler, with the dissonance(s) arising from vocal lines weaving around one another. Other instruments are Harp, Violin, Viola, and Cello - GPO, of course. Balancing them with the soundfont is a challenge, and I'm not sure I got it right. Well, you be the judge.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to listen.

I think the mix sounds perfect... very well balanced. The piece had a very relaxing "renaissance" feel; really enjoyed the harp and violin combination. Kind of ended abruptly... is there more?
    Good job on this...

Wowzer! This is really good. I'm in agreement with Michael, at times there is a renaissance sound that moves into another world then back to renaissance.
The balance and mix are right on. Great harmony work. Thanks for posting.

    Michael and Bill,

The renaissance comments from both of you are on the mark - the imitation helps, of course. There is an ensemble called Trio Medieval - three wonderful singers. I had that sound in mind.

    Thanks for listening!

Ron... this is gorgeous... with an enchanting neo-Renaissance feel
ingeniously constructed around quite a modern and extremely
effective approach to line and harmony.

Excellent. Just plain excellent. Ron, I believe this is by far one
of the finest things I have heard from you, and I strongly encourage
you to pursue this richly rewarding avenue further.

Deeply moving, to me, and beautifully crafted with both delicacy
and great strength -- I cannot but say:

    BRAVO!

Congratulations, my friend, on a truly fine creation.

    David,

You are far too kind, my friend. Not that I mind, of course! Your comments are always so encouraging.
I'm not sure what direction this is, actually - a little bit of filmscore-meditative-imitative-yet-slightly-medieval-into-renaissance? I suppose it has something(s) in common with my last post - The Floating World. I'm, not sure where this will all lead, but am glad you find it attractive.

    Thank you for stopping by!

    All the best,

    Ron

    Ron,

What a great piece that you have created here. Rich and full of little twists and turns in the harmonies. The voices are really excellent as well.

    Re: Three Voices

    Gary,

Thanks - I'm glad you noticed all the "little" turns in the harmony, as that was one of things I was concerned about. Glad it worked!

    Re: Three Voices

    Very, very nice!

I agree with the renaissance comparisons.

    The melody was wonderful.!

With the proper samples for the voice, this arrangement could really shine.!
    (more so!)

    Great work!

    Re: Three Voices

    Jeff,

Yes, with better voice samples this would improve - but I think for the price I paid (they were free, not pirated) the sound is acceptable.

Are there recommendations for good voice samples?

    Thanks for your comments

    Ron
