One of my favorite music pieces rendered by probably the worlds best audio engineer for classical MIDI interpretations ... a festival for my ears! Thank you!

    "roboto sections"?
That's what we get when we Quantize too much

Sounds great! Someday I'll learn to program.

For me personally the Garritan Strad is not so much interesting because it is so much easier to take a real recording. But I am looking forward to the rest of the strings family because of the same reason - layering the tutti sections.

When I was performing as concertmaster I always felt that the principals of the strings sections were interacting in a chamber music like way, like a string quartet within the orchestra. We always tried to communicate by ears and eyes. If this works it helps the conductor a lot. In a midi rendering it makes sense to place those solo voices relatively centered.

rubato I think everybody knew what he means
    = very free tempo interpretation

    EDIT
    Wikipedia:
Tempo rubato (Italian stolen time) is a musical term for slightly speeding up or slowing down the tempo of a piece at the discretion of the soloist or the conductor. It was used frequently in music of the Romantic Period, and is especially common in piano music. It also requires the use of altering the relationships among the written note values, and the played ones. For instance, if a piece of music had a quarter note followed by an eighth note, and the tempo was slowed down so the quarter note was as a sixteenth note tied to a quarter note, the eighth note would have to be sped up to a sixteenth note so as to make up for the lost time. Rubato, even when not denoted, is often used liberally by many singers for added musical effect by singing at a slightly different tempo than that of the accompaniment.
Frédéric Chopin used a strict form of rubato in some of his pieces: the left hand was to be played at the exact tempo of the piece, while the right hand was to be played freely, with rubato. Franz Schubert and Alexander Scriabin also used rubato to bring emotion to their pieces. While Schubert was performing at the Burgtheater in 1825, he was applauded by Salieri who complimented him on his good use of rubato.

    Dan,

Dag nabbit. You are so good at this. You keep sending us all back to school.

This is just superb. I personally enjoy less robust tempi, but can appreciate this all the same. I think we could all benefit from sitting down with you for a master class sometime.

    Amazing.

    Thanks for sharing this one.

Hannes F, holy cow! I am still learning, I sure do appreciate your very flattering words, by now my head is so big I can't get out of the house
    thank you!

johnmarkpainter, I should have recognized that mispelling of rubato, good response to it though I appreciate you posting and listening. I also appreciate your participation here at NS and helping others.

Jerry, I guess if I was awake when I post these things, I wouldn't make mistakes like roboto. Perhaps if I was to ever be in the front of the class with my mouth going facing everyone, (teacher) I would not have to worry about a bad grade. I did horrible in school as a youngster, and dreaded the day the report cards came out. I knew my Dad and Mom would not be happy. Like most parents, my Dad and Mom know my faults, and still love me unconditionally, even though I did not please them with good grades.
It is really sad how much negative affect getting bad grades in school has on one's self worth or esteem.

Anyway, thanks for your kind words. Say Hi to Claire Annette for me

    Dan
