Topic: Two Short Pieces

    Two Short Pieces

    Dear Friends,

I want to share a couple of short pieces that I wrote. It has been a few months since I've even been able to consider creating any music, since I've been going through a very difficult grieving process. I wrote these two pieces for the video of my friend's memorial. I channeled the inspiration of Tom Newman here; nothing profound; certainly not a typical dark creative response to grief, but I needed something to make me feel better, so this is what I wrote.

    Thanks for listening,

    Very good Joe.
I enjoied very much these two pieces. They're short but very intense. I liked very much the piano. It's wonderful.

    Very nice.

Nice going, Joe! This is some very good writing. I love the piano sound and also the lovely oboe in the upper register. Beautiful.

Your string writing is not chopped liver either.

    Beautiful work Joe.

    Poignat, sincere, and memorable.

They occupy that space where words can't adequately express the emotions.

I found these 2 pieces immensely touching.

Joe Cavanagh always has better adjectives than I do.
I had a lot of good ones, but he got into my barn a

Seriously, Joe, this is gorgeous work -- enchanting
melody, beautifully done rendering, and they go

Joe, I hope you will consider developing each of
these further... there's a depth and richness, here,
that makes the listener want for more.

Just wonderful, beautiful pieces, Joe. Very touching and it is clear that this music came from deep within your heart. I am sure the person you wrote them for is at peace and very moved by your message.

I have listened to both pieces a number of times and especially like In Loving Memory.

Thank you for sharing these two personal works with us.

Yes, beautifully written and well rendered. Is this the GPO 'oboe classical solo' that you've used, or one of the other variants Joe? It sounds very good.

    Looking forward to more.

Well, you certainly channeled Newman beautifully - but you shouldn't be so humble. This is clearly your voice - and a moving one, at that. Simple, wonderfully realized music. Such a lovely tribute to your friend.

Thanks for sharing your work with us.
