I guess it's not all that easy to do. Or maybe they're doing some other under-the-hood stuff while they have it open, in prepration of the 64-bit OS X coming in the Spring?
Martin Jann of Native-Instruments posted a thread in the Kontakt forum of the NI community web site. He explained that there were a few last minute bugs that were found that needed attention.

does anyone know if this new player will also work on the new mac pro?
i've had a few problems with printer drivers and such that are supposed to work with UB including mac pro that don't work.
i'm keeping my fingers crossed. i have 4 processirs ready to burn.

Welll, if it's a universal binary it will work on the Mac Pro. That's what universal binary is, after all.
