Lo! How A Rose E'er Blooming

    Hi everyone,

Christmastime is getting close, I did this last year but did not do anything with it.

I stole this by ear from a CD recording from one of David Maddux's
Christmas CDs entitled... "An Evening In December" produced back in the eighties. I have been on him to get these CD's back in print.

David's arrangments were sung by vocalists from a group at the time called First Call. David arranged a bunch of songs for this a cappella project and this is my "all GPO" version of his arrangement,

Lo! How a Rose E'er Blooming

    Thank you David!

Thumbs up Re: Lo! How A Rose E'er Blooming

Your tempo maps are always so natural to seem a real time recording!

You say "all GPO" but it seems include some JABB blowing winds...isn't it?

one is the solo piccolo trumpet from GPO, and the other solo is a french horn with maximum aftertouch to create vibrato, which is typically frowned upon by purists, so I intended for the french horn to sound like a trombone solo
No JABB in this particular piece.
    Your ears are great Fabio!

    thank you for listening

    Dan,

Very interesting arrangement on this piece. Lots of variety in your choices of tempi, dynmaics and instrument mixes. Amazing what can be accomplished with the GPO.

    Thank you Gary,

I did have the CD of the acappella recording to copy from, so that would explain some of the expression.

    thank you for listening

Beautifully done as always, Dan. The "conducting" of
this -- the expression, tempi management, dynamics,
etc.-- is superb... and the mixing and rendering, masterful.

Bravo, my friend. I've listened to this about a dozen
times, and your tender treatment of this is sheer delight
    for the ear and heart.

    With admiration,
