Ein Feste Burg Ist Unser Gott, Luther - Bach

Here is Bach's Ein Feste Burg Ist Unser Gott performed on the GPO pipe organ. For the manuals I used Full Organ, Haupt Mix and Cornets. For pedal I used Baroque Plen Reeds and Baroque Plenum. Reverb is SIR.

    Edit -
For Fabio and David. I might be old as the hills but I can learn new tricks. Here is the same mix at a brisker tempo. I must say, I like this.

Nice stops mixture and nice ambience. I would like it a little faster, but it works as it is anyway!

(the cantata is one of my favorites, did you some renditions?)

Very well chosen voicing on this, Bill; and a convincing,
    satisfying rendering and interpretation.

Normally I would agree with Fabio on tempi -- I've played
this, and I take it quite a bit faster, as do many others.

However, after listening through this several times, I do
think this more pacific, thoughtfully paced interpretation
    is quite valid, as well.

    My best,

No no no! This is far too fast! Are you on
speed? I can barely follow this, and...

    Just kidding, Bill... lol.

I do indeed like the quickened version, as
well... more of the joy and affirmation I feel
in this piece comes shining through; the
thematic material seems to connect and
carry more strongly; and the overall sense
    is one of confident hope.

A very interesting study, I might add, on
    the influence of performance tempi!

    Valhalx:

Outstanding organ playing. I, too, like the faster version, but both are so well programmed by the GPO organ.

This is great for a Bach lover like me........

    Bill,

Great organ rendition with the mighty GPO organ. I too like the brisker tempo! It is very much in line with the tempi my sax quartet transcription of the same work recently posted to this forum.

I'm not so familiar with most of Bach's countless pieces, and it's great to be introduced to so many of them through this forum with such great samples and renderers. Very nice work, I enjoyed this very much! What a great organ sound!!
