    Free reason samples

Hi, My name is erick and i am creating a sample library for a projekt Im working on. I am an art student and Im looking for people to create songs using only my samples. As for now they only exist in reason nn-xt and combinator format, but if you like to translate them to other formats please let me know. Some are recorded using left stereo channel for close mic and right for a roomy mic a bit further away, and then by routing left/right to one channel on the mixer each Im able to mix between them. Some are of really good quality, and some are maybe useful. most of them are recorded chromatically with alternating samples for staccato and velocity switch between staccato and sustaines. please try them out and tell me if you made any music with them and send me a .rns file. Please tell me what you think of them too.

Here they are, the ERANS project samples:

    Re: Free reason samples

There appear to be some nice samples here - the flute and cello have a nice sound to them and a fairly impressive range of articulations to them. The mandolin also seems nicely recorded with a good selection of arts.

I haven't downloaded any of the others yet, but look forward to seeing more.

Oh, it appears that the trombone link isn't working.

Can we import those in Giga, K2 or halion maybe?

    Re: Free reason samples

Sounds like some nice work. I've dl'd a couple of them.
However, some of them are not decompressing properly.
I wonder if you might not have better luck creating them as refills.
The mandolin and violin result in bad crc checks on this end...
I'd be glad to test more of them if they would properly expand.
    Good Luck,
    BW@

    Re: Free reason samples

I havent heard about the decompression problem before. Hmm. kara-moon.com will put all of the samples on their site and in soundfont format too, I think though that there might be a problem with the velocity layers in sf2.
When I get the time and space I'll try to make the samples available in refill format. If you need gig, kontakt or halion, there is a good free translator that should be able to convert them ( http://www.chickensys.com/downloads/translator_free.php ). I've tryed but cant test them, I only use reason. But I´ll put the translated programs here:

    http://rapidshare.com/files/6303508/...s_fxp_sfz_.rar

They are only in halion, exs and sfz format. In reason the combinator plays an important part in routing the left right cnannel to be able to mix between close and far mic and other stuff. Some of the instruments was not possible to translate. They are so many now so if you have specific questions about how they should work, please tell me. The gigs become as large as the original instruments thats why I havent made any of these.

If you wanna translate the samplepacks and share them, please do so as long as you keep the name starting with ERANS... and as long as you put the "license read me" text-file in the package.

Here are the violon and mandolin in refill format:

    Re: Free reason samples

I downloaded the Jingle Bells, and now rapidshare says I have reached my download limit. Did I do something wrong?

    Re: Free reason samples

It appears Erans has programmed the drum kits to be multi-out in reason, with reason 3.0 song templates. For those unfamiliar with Reason, the NN-XT sample has many outputs, and Erans has each drum (more or less) going to a different out, which is then brought into the mixer. This way you can apply FX individually to each drum. This is very cool, but they will not translate easily. It's going to involve manually mapping everything individually.

And just when you think "that's not such a big deal", you realize that Erans has recorded different mic positions for everything! Or maybe it's overheads? Either way, he has done a really cool thing, all the mic positions play at once, and you can use the mixer to adjust them to taste.

Unfortunately, he has not labelled the samples very well, so frankly translating the drum kits may not be worth the effort if you have to listen to a whole crapload of snare drums and try to guess "hey, is this an alternate hit? a different mic position? both?"

But the samples ARE very cool sounding! So maybe someone will tackle this job?

Also, he has recorded many takes per note, which is a good thing, but the way Reason does alternation doesn't translate properly, so you are once again going to need to save a layer of takes as seperate presets, then import all of them one at a time into your sampler of choice.

Thanks a lot for the report Von, you've answered pretty much all of my question right there.

What format did you translate into?

    Thanks in advance.
