The electric cello has an incredible sound! If I'm not mistaken that is the instrument used in Black Hawk Down, The Passion, Man on Fire.

Electric cello is wonderful... look for music by David Darling and Tom McVeety and, I'm sure, others.....

I think lucpcn's point was that it would make a lot more sense to:

    1. Get a sampled cello (VSL, KH, CosmoD, EWQL, etc.)
    2. Run it through your favorite tube/distortion plug

Certainly the sound would be more dynamic and probably realistic doing it that way.

David Darling plays 4- and 8-string electric celli. Not sure how well a plug-in'd 4-string acoustic cello could mimic the latter...???

Certainly, unless/until an electric cello sample library comes out, running an acoustic cello lib through the plug-in(s) of your choice is the way to go...

Really ?? can we really imitate the sound of a electric cello by adding sound effects to a sampled cello?

Chill, M. Carter. My post was in response to (i assume) a misunderstood statement; it was not a public service announcement. I'm aware that you've probably heard of 'plug-ins'.

Here is the Gofriller Cello played with effects. It sounds a little different than you may expect from samples of a rare 300 year old cello.

Robert has done this demo in a rock/fusion style.

Get Down & Heavy with the Gofriller!

This is different perspective the cello.
