    Mikio,

The import of Encore files has never worked as well as people have hoped. I haven't tried it recently, but there has been no mention of improvements with theis feature. If Encore is able to produce Music XML files, Finale can easily import those. Music XML is rapidly becoming THE WAY to transfer notation files between different programs.

If you'd like, you can e-mail me an Encore file, I'll open it in Finale 2006, and send you a PDF of the result.

    Jeff,

I have the latest version of Encore and I can only save files as .enc, .mid, or .mts. I don't know what MTS stands for, nor do I know what XML stands for. How would you like to me save the file? I'd be grateful to have you open it up in 2006. Where do I email it to?

    Gary,

How long does it take for you to forward your written consent to someone who wants to sell their copy of GPO Full? My friend is selling his but I'm not going to buy it unless I can gain access to downloading updates for Finale 2006. Please let me know asap. He has someone else who wants to buy it and who doesn't need it for Finale. Thanks a load!

    Mikio,

According to the licensing agreement one cannot sell GPO. All registration is handled by Native Instruments and I don't know if it's even possible. I would urge your friend to contact Native Instruments to see if and how this would be possible.

    Gary,

I'm a bit confused. You are the creator of GPO, yes? What or who is Native Instruments? I'm new to the forum and to Finale so I'm completely lost.

Someone posted your license agreement and it clearly stated that the 'end-user' had to get your written consent to sell. Or harp.com's permission.

    Here's the quote:
A right to use any of the samples and sounds in Garritan Personal Orchestra is granted to the original end-user only, and this license is not transferable unless there is written consent of Gary Garritan and harps.com, Corp. or their representative and payment of an additional fee.

I guess I'm going to pass on buying a used copy of GPO. At this point I'll stick with Finale 2006 and GPO Lite. As you informed me it should suffice for now.

Thanks again for taking an active hand in getting back with new users. It can be very overwhelming to try and grasp a new programme all by yourself.

First of all -- Gary, it was marvelous to meet you in person, and to be able to spend time with you and some of the Garritan compadres at Buca diBeppo in Indy -- many thanks for everything!!!

    Speaking of Finale 2006!

Make music has just issued a warning to all how install this version on a Mac - here's the text:

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU INSTALL FINALE 2006 FOR MACINTOSH!

    Dear Finale Macintosh User,

Due to a problem in the Finale installer, IMPORTANT USER FILES MAY BE DELETED FROM YOUR MACINTOSH COMPUTER DURING FINALE INSTALLATION unless the following precaution is taken.

BEFORE INSTALLING FINALE, navigate to the [current user]/Library/Application Support folder and delete the folder named MakeMusic.

[Note that the MakeMusic folder appears here ONLY if you've previously installed Finale.]

The above step ensures your User/Library/Application Support folder is not deleted during installation. This folder contains user preference files for some applications. Please note this problem does not occur with any Finale for Windows installations.

We will be sending you updated installation discs, at our expense, that do not require this additional step.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you and let us know if you have any questions.

    Franco,

When will that update be sent out? I'm still waiting on my Finale 2006 DVD to arrive. Could that update be what's holding my order up?
