Like the trumpet work in Scherzette, and I ran up Sixteen and Thirty on the new JBL monitors... [not all
the glass is still in the windows]... that singing bell
sound in Sixteen is a cool touch, reminds me of the
Mannheim Steamroller boys.
Thirty (haven't I heard this before?) is a ripping good
ride with that virtuoso opener. (I love it when you get
off on a tear like that; I can feel how well it falls
under the hand.) Some of the rhythmic work in this (~5:30
and ~6:24, for instance) is most interesting.
I'm kind of new at the forum and I have listened to a lot of your pieces - the technical genius comes through - but there is something else - an edge - one that makes me think that amongst the seriousness of it all that you are sitting there smirking and guffawing all the while. I really enjoy how you can take and produce something so technical and yet so warming to the spirit!
What nice things to say! Thank you Brother Stephen. I appreciate it.
No, I don't smirk or guffaw...maybe titter and chortle a bit. I have a warped sense of humor (Brit.-humour). Maybe that comes through a bit in my music(?)
