    Mazurka in f minor (piano)

This piece is the result of my first assignment as an undergraduate composition student. The professor wanted us all to write a Mazurka and I did mine in the style of Chopin (since he is famous for his Mazurkas). I had already studied most of the musical forms, so my only obstacle was to think of some original themes for the piece.

The form of this piece is the "Song Form with Trio."

As a lover of Chopin's music I have enjoyed your mazurka, an elegant and coherent composition to me

Freddy, er, Jack... lol... my gosh, another beauty.

Again, that effortless perfection of flowing form; and
fresh thoughts brought to an older idiom, with clarity and
an exquisite refinement Chopin himself would have much

Bravo, my friend. This is superb writing, well beyond the
means of but the rare few.

    With admiration,

I regret not having composed this one. My life was too short and George S. was as hell to me.......

Seriously, great stuff. Undergraduated? Go on.... this is talented writing.
Still listening to it, while writing this message.

Thank you for sharing your music!

This is wonderful music, Mr. Jack! I enjoyed listening to it very much. It is definitely going into my permanent keeper file.

    Bravo! Do it some more.

That JABB Steinway piano is a keeper too huh Jack?

Some of the more expensive piano sample libraries I have heard demos from don't stack up to this Steinway included in JABB.

    Wonderful writing Jack!

That one is a real beauty Jack.

It does everything an academic exercise should, ......but.......and this is a very big but,
it has an element of Fantasy and Invention that goes way beyond what one could reasonably expect.

You have coaxed a lovely sound out of the piano too.

    regards Joe

ps Sorry about my very big but.

    What a gorgeous work, Jack!

Your mastery of the piano is evident.....Chopin would be proud.

    Simply terrific!
