3rd piece using strad - Viva Staccato!

    Hi all,
This is my 3rd attempt on the Strad fiddle

It's a version for two violins and piano of a piece for two flutes and piano that I composed a while ago. I've changed a few bits that sounded good on flute in the original, but not so violinistic, or so I thought.

I took Joe's advice and dropped the velocity levels to a really low level (about 5) to try to get a more legato sound than I produced previously. I think it works! Joe, thanks for the tip!

Viva staccato (2 violins and piano)

    Cheers
    Jon

Edit: Forgot to say - 1st violin is the lyrical violin, 2nd violin is v. 1.08. This is a tip I picked up from Fabio who i believe used the same technique in his Bach Double Violin Concerto rendering recently.

    That was Fun. !!
It has an end-of-the-pier edwardian entertainment vibe that is really refreshing.

I think you have nailed the velocity issue, it now accents where you want it to, and not otherwise, giving much more realistic phrasing.

    Nice Work Jon.

    regards Joe

What a great piece! Love the writing on this, Jon.

The duo Strads sound fantastic, to my ear; and I
must highly compliment the enthusiastic "performance"
of the piece -- just excellent, right on the mark.

    My best,

That's way cool, Mr. Jon. You achieved some pretty good realism in my not so humble opinion.

Nice going, old bean!I 'ave a go at some more.

Thanks Joe. Your advice on the low velocities was spot on. When I get more time, I'll do some more experimenting!
