    CONSECRATION for Band

This was my first entry in the Forum.
It was originally for a smaller wind ensemble. This is arranged for
    Band.
This piece is dedicated to the loss of life of our compatriots
during the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars.

I enjoyed this fitting tribute to those who have sacrificed their lives for their family, friends and fellow citizens.

Two measures into this, I found myself saying "I just know
I've heard this before." And then I read the comments... lol.
    [That's a good thing, if you're wondering.]

This reconsecration of Consecration thrives on the richer ensemble,
Gary. Solid work on the adaptation. If my musical memory is at all
correct, I believe I prefer this version a great deal over the earlier one.

It might be a worwhile exploration to post the link to the earlier version
as well; so people can hear what's involved in the recut of it.

    My best,

Though I didn't comment on the earlier ensemble version of this, I am (obviously) commenting on this version. I really think this piece comes to life in the full band version. It presents the piece with more depth and gives the sparse solo sections a little more purpose. This piece does present a fitting mood and respect for the those you are commemorating.

    Well done, Gary!

I'm not sure what you intended in this statement. Was the word "GOODBYE" a link to a second piece of music? If so, there is no link.

I certainly hope it is not that you are saying goodbye to the forum!

Gary, that's really excellent! And a great rendering too... with Rich, I am hoping you are not quitting the forum, I have always liked your compositions
