VSL demo for alto flute-- Takemitsu's Toward the Sea II

For anyone who may have missed this elsewhere in cyberspace, here is my version of the great Japanese film and concert music composer--Toru Takemitsu's Toward the Sea II-- Cape Cod --
featuring the VSL VI alto flute, harp and sordino strings.

    Real nice Jay!

My only concern in this rendition is the flutter sound. To me, it is too loud relative to the other articulations.

Very nice though, lot's of very tasteful expression.

    Thanks, Dan and James.

Dan-- the score calls for a marked increase in dynamics whenever the flutter tongue is used. My interpretation is that it should be slightly jarring. Probably overdid it though. Also I only had access to standard flutter tongue sustains (as opposed to performance legato flutter tongue) so there is a bit a "fudging" on the flutter tongue phrases.

    Best,
    Jay
