    The Nearly Blue Danube

I know it's probably been done to death but I love it.
I'm halfway through and thought I'd put a toe in the water before spending more time on it. I started it in 1995 and the biggest job up until now was changing all the cc11 data to cc1 for expression.

This arrangement is from my good ears ( no Finale) straight to my sequencer of choice Steinberg Cubase 4. Taken from a performance by the Orchestra of Vienna Volksoper conducted by Peter Falk

two instances of GPO used for 16 stereo tracks.
Mastered using my BBE Sonicmaximizer plugin,
dynamic range -30db to -1db maybe not wide enough?

    please let me know

More legato and softer attacks. It's a wide, quiet, slow-flowing river...

yes you're quite right, I have just looked out the original CD track I used as the Guide, copied it in to Cubase along side my sequence and realised that GPO can do expression better than Roland Sound Canvas.
I will end up starting again

    Thankyou

Excellent work, Ray, I love the way you slightly anticipate the "2" of the 3/4 like they do in Wien. Great overall sound, Bravo!

Roberto, thank you for your comments. I don’t want to annoy people who studiously follow score sheets, because these manuscripts are the basis for arranging all compositions, but, the reason I hear notes before and behind the beat is of course, my interpretation of the written abbreviation. It must be difficult for composers of passionate work being unable to work with and conduct a real orchestra when challenged by Computer based technology. GPO and JABB have given me a new lease of life with music.

WOW, Thanks for posting this i've been waiting to hear a gpo version of blue danube for some time now.
I've tried to re-wright this piece to incorporate other orchesral pieces and i can tell you it's not easy!
I can't wait to hear the completed piece!

Fine interpretation of this piece, Ray, well done!

With Roberto, I like the slightly off-center rhythmic
emphasis... it lends a distinctive flavor I find very
    satisfying.

Fitting, too. I've seen the Danube. It really is
only nearly blue... and generally only on a good
    day... lol.

The opening on this, too -- very nicely paced.
