Rachmaninov was also known for taking care of his hands. It has been said he would keep them warm in a furry muff that contained a small heater while waiting to perform in some of those cold concert halls of his day. I vaguely remember reading something about what he would do to warm his hands up and keep them warm beside what I mentioned above. And, it was said one of the things he said on his death bed was how much he was going to miss his hands. Hmm, have to think about where I read this information. I believe it is in one of my issues of Sheet Music in a small article on taking care of your hands.
