Mixing the VSl samples with delay?

    Hi,

I am in the middle of mixing orchestra music that use VSL samples......it is a pretty dry sample sounds.

Just wondering if you guys apply delay besides reverb for all individual orchestra sounds ?

Use a convolution reverb such as Altiverb and then there is no need for delay/pre delay/any other cr*p.....;.

I also use Altiverb. Vienna Konzarthause is especially sweet!

For what it's worth: As long as I'm not asked to mix with a very puristic attitude, I _love_ a bit of (down-filtered, slightly distorted) delay/echo on certain instruments, especially brass. This is an addition to the applied reverb, and more often than not the echo itself sends to the reverb, too.
