Topic: Adding FX to K2 standalone?

Question Adding FX to K2 standalone?

Has anyone figured out how to use VST or UAD efx with K2 in standalone mode? I switched to standalone to get more stuff loaded and available to me, but lost the ability to add fx. Just checking to see if there was a workaround to get things effected.

    Thanks,

    Mr. A.

If you are not using Kontakt's own effects you can set up one or several AUX tracks in your DAW and apply the effects there. I don't know anything about your setup (DAW, OS, etc.) so unfortunately I'm not able to give you more specifics about this setup at this time.

My chain goes Kontakt --> Soundflower --> AUX in DP

Thanks, but I'm using it as a standalone, otherwise, yes, aux sends would be the way to go.

I'm running it like a GigaStudio, basically, except, most of the internal efx aren't happening enough for me, not that Gigas' were either.

there used to be another program to host standalones called RAX but they stopped producing it for the moment.

    Hope this helps.

Actually this might be more along the lines of what your looking for haven't used it but it is similar to RAX.

Whoops, forgot the links, I found the site for the rax plug-in as well. This is only the demo version so you can only run instance of both instruments and FX. The other is not free but worth it of you really need a standalone host.

Thanks for your advice. I'm actually on PC, not MAC.

You're clear that I was looking for an alternative to using a shell to host K2.
It seems that you can actually load more stuff using K2 as a standalone. But the downside is not being able to use 3rd party effects inside K2 standalone.
That's what lead me to start this thread.

    Thanks,
