Sibelius 4, Universal Macs, and GPO K2

Just an FYI from the Sibelius help group:
Sib. 4.1: Will Sibelius 4.1 work with native Intel GPO?

With Garritan potentially ready to release its native OS X Intel version of GPO this week, I'm wondering if non-native Sibelius 4.1 will work with a native Intel version of GPO at its full potential.

    Thanks!

The short answer is "no." The slightly longer answer is that if you're using stand-alone GPO rather than GPO Sibelius Edition, you can use GPO with the Universal Binary Kontakt Player 2, but you'll still have to route MIDI from Sibelius to Kontakt Player 2 manually.

To use GPO in an integrated fashion with Sibelius, you'll also need a Universal Binary version of Sibelius, which is coming as soon as it's ready.

Re: Sibelius 4, GPO Personal Orchestra

I am running Sibelius 4 happily with GPS on Mac Powerbook G4 1.67 Ghz. Can I increase the range of the string instruments?

    Hi,

Is any part of the GPO Sibelius Edition any use with Finale 2007?

    Barry,

I don't believe so - the Sibelius edition works only within Sibelius. I had GPO before Sib 4 - so for me that meant getting the crossgrade, i.e getting the app that allows Sibelius to "talk" to the GPO samples. Unless you have GPO as a seperate item, I'm pretty certain it can't be used with another program.

    Could be wrong; often am...
