    GPO and K2 update question

    What will be the advantage of updating GPO to the Kontakt 2 player for PC users?

    * You get knobs for all relevant parameters, and the player will remember their settings (including Mod Wheel), so you don't have to place any "set and forget" data in your MIDI tracks for the player to initialize with correct values. This isn't so much of a problem with GPO, but will be a greater advantage with JABB-K2 (which has many more hidden controls).

    * Breath and expression controls (cc2 and cc11) are now aliased to Mod Wheel.

    * Accessible pitchbend rage setting.

    * You can also use K2's convolution reverb capability (free IR profiles are available on the Internet)

    * You can save any instruments you tweak as your own custom presets (.nki files) and share with others.

    * Hopefully the new player is more efficient and robust, but that is yet to be tested!

    Is there still an eight instrument limit per instance?

    That limit is no more! No more "eight slots" design. In fact, your other Kontakt Player libraries (such as the Garritan Strad and Cello) will load into the same instance.

    Yes. It seems the maximum is 64 instruments across four MIDI busses. In fact, there are now default Multi programs with up to 16 instruments, and you could add even more instruments after that (for instance, to double parts on the same MIDI channel).
