    Sonar and GPO

    Hi, everybody!

I'm new to GPO and Sonar 6PE. I'm able to play GPO from my synth, but I've lost the audio on 6PE. What I'd like to do is get the audio to play back again on sonar, and a MIDI track on Sonar to play back on the Steinway.

I'm sure it's probably simple, and equally sure I can't figure it out by myself

If this was discussed on another topic or tutorial, please give me a link. Or just reply. Thanks in advance.

What does "lost the audio" mean?

Did you have audio before and now you can't hear it?

Yes. I had a stereo audio track playing back through my sound card and a MIDI track playing through my hardware synth as a sound module.

using pentium d 3.4 gig, xp pro, 1 gig of RAM

    Re: Sonar and GPO

Anyone have any experience with Sonar Studio 6.2 (Vista) and GPO?

Also, anyone using Edirol UA-101 with GPO?

Hoping it works smoothly as I am about to purchase GPO.

    Thanks,
    Gordon

FWIW, when I set up GPO to play from my synth, the way I set it up hijacked my sound card so nothing else comes through. I can't play an audio CD, for example.

Ahh, does this mean that you are using the GPO "standalone" app, rather than using a plug-in within SONAR itself?

I was. I re3booted and the sound card went back to its former setting. Now I'm attempting to use it as a plugin using the antiquated tutorial (Sonar 3 ) and not getting there.

    right now i have:

MIDI pre-recorded on track 4 of the Sonar project.

input delta AP MIDI ch1 (icon shows midi in activity when I play the kybd -- hardware synth set to output ch 1)

    O 2-NI Garritan Personal Orchestra 1

    CH 1 GPO

GPO plugin shows GPO 1, Steinway, CH 1, Volume 12 o'clock. For a while, the keys were moving, indicating that it was recieving MIDI, but there was no audio from that track (audio from the audio track though) now I have neither.

Also I would notice that I was getting error messages of insufficient memory (I have 1 gig of RAM) and I'd discover that I had 16 channels of GPO loaded no doubt due to cluelessness on my part. I'd manually delete the extra tracks.

To add to my woes I was getting continually logged off this forum

    Re: Sonar and GPO

According to the poll results, the largest number of sequencer users here are cakewalk/ sonar users.

I guess you guys are intent on carrying the secret of how to use GPO as a plugin on Sonar to your graves

    Re: Sonar and GPO

Make sure that there is also an audio track for the GPO plugin, not just the MIDI track. If you're using the Synth Rack to add GPO, make sure the checkbox for primary audio output is selected.

Otherwise, to do this by hand, create a new audio track and in the "Input" selector choose GPO. Hopefully then you'll hear the sound.

Hopefully that can get you going tonight: if not, you'll have to wait 'til tomorrow morning when I wake up! Goodnight!

Thumbs up Re: Sonar and GPO

    Hey, it's working!

    woohoo

    Thanks, Markleford!

And I take it to record the audio, I can just arm the audio track GPO is on and press record. I think I can handle that
