Mozart Allegretto for string quartet (NOT A STRAD)

My second Strad offering proves how big this instrument is because when I first arranged this piece I managed to balance the four instruments quite well but, Put the Strad in there taking the lead and it becomes Soloist with backing players.

The Strad sure does sound different than the GPO strings. Someday all the instruments will be like the Strad. That will be a major evolutionary jump!

You did a nice job on this.

Mozart might differ about a few details, but quite
an upstanding performance, Ray! You really capture
the energy and spirit of the piece in this... I've
heard live performances of it that would put you
out cold -- but this really has life and fire in it.

    Much enjoyed.

    Phil,
To answer your observation, if every sample set for every instrument was the size of the Strad then we'll have to wait on more powerful computers to run them all at one time. I'm not sure that's a necessity now. I think we can all strive to get more from the samples we already have. We can then turn the clock back and learn to play the real instruments. Playing the sampled Strad is mainly interesting me because I wouldn't get tune out of a violin at all! so getting a reasonable sound from this is just wonderful.

Sorry Phil but the picture you paint for me is like, we'll all be sitting in front of our multi media terminals in a forum saying "hey Ray remember when musicians used to get those strange wooden and metal objects out, you know these things they scraped and blew in. I'll just pick up my guitar and play!

    cheers

Mozart would turn over in his grave on hearing my less than accurate rendition. So here are the excuses, I sequenced this in the mid 90's swimming in reverb to hide the single sampled stringed instruments in the wash which at that time covered my indiscretions but I was hoping now the Strad would sound sweet enough to camouflage the poor scoring.

    Cheers David

Thanks for enjoying my nice but less than accurate arrangement.
I'm also glad you enjoyed the sound of my new Strad.

Ah... sounds like Mozart! I love it! Yes, the strad does take the lead... it's like a violin concerto with a quartet. But a very enjoyable listen nonetheless, great work!

I see what you mean about the Strad taking the lead. Well done! I had visions of prancing and dancing all over the place.

To join in on some of the discussion in your thread, I would rather learn to play the violin, as well as several other instruments but I am more interested in composition. So, one cannot possibly learn several instruments not to mention practising them all several hours a day to keep in shape.

    Sean,
Thanks for the sounds like comment, that in short is what I wanted to achieve.
