    MySpace

I'm trying my hand at learning webpage design. Baby steps now for now. Using MySpace to learn the craft.

That's great! Experimenting is the best way to learn!

Hopefully you will not mind a critique/suggestion... the image you are using as the background is very colorful and contrasty (i.e. there are a lot of dark colors and light colors). This makes it hard for any font color at all too stand out as it should, making the text difficult to read. Might I suggest either darkening the image and making all the fonts brighter, or brightening the image (lowering the contrast) and making the fonts darker. It may drastically change the look of the page but it should make it easier to read.

    Best of luck with this!

    Samantha,

I'm new to the myspace world, myself, but I have to agree with Sean. The image(s), while stunning, make it hard to read the text - and the text is something into which you have put a lot thought.

Otherwise, it makes a strong impression.

    Samantha,

There are some very good resources out there for making a clean, but personalized MySpace page. I can't remember the exact link of the tutorial I used, but here's my end result.

Not a plug for "my space", but it enabled me to highly personalize my page (keeping with the fact that I'm a writer), while maintaining readability.

If you're interested, I'll dig around and see whose guidance I followed to do this. Of course some proficiency in a graphical editor helps.

Cool space you have there Samantha. It's such a cool looking picture though, maybe it could be made smaller and sit against a more suitable background, and made to move along with the text and other stuff so the text is never over it.

How much do they charge to have a site like that?

    David,

Myspace is free. I guess they make there money on the ads that are posted on every site. Do people really buy stuff based on those ads? Hmm...

    But it is free.

    That's cool!

I had no idea myspace allowed users to modify the html of the page.

    Thanks for the tip!

Wow, free. They should have two internets, one without any ads.

Hey Samantha, I agree about the background being difficult to read against... but that is such a cool picture!!!
