    Been awhile...hello from college!

Hello to all my great friends here!!! College is going pretty well. Anyway enough of this sappy stuff. Here is some truly sappy stuff...I was asked to compose a tune for the Berea College production of Winnie the Pooh. Here is the result...let me know if it sound okay to you all.

So far, it has recieved good reviews from the theater people...of course they are simply impressed with the sound of Garritan! The real test is running it through this motley crew!

I hope it has improved from my early work here!!!!!

    Enjoy

Wonderful to see you back with us, Paul! And
I'm pleased to hear college is proceeding well.

Delightful "Winnie the Pooh" material -- love that
piccolo work, flitting around the stratosphere.
I'm assuming this is for a stage production; for
which, I think it would work perfectly!

    My best,

    David,

You are correct...it is for a stage production. If they like my one piece for Winnie, then I hope to get to do all the music for Julius Ceasar, which they will be performing in the Fall. So, I will have all Summer to compose for that! Cross your fingers, toes, or anything else you can think of to cross...that I will get the gig.

    Thanks for listening.

Will do, Paul -- everything crossed, eyes and elbows included.

Good luck with it! Julius Caeser could be quite a meaty assignment!

    David,

What have you been up to lo these many months since I logged on here?

It is good to be back....I'm going to try to get on here more often. I may not have time to write, but I do have time to listen to a few tracks, comment, and then make it to class on time.

    Hi prowland,
Nice to hear from you. It appears that college is agreeing with you, proving that inspiration can be found anywhere. We'll be pullng for you to get Caesar and looking forward to see what you come with.

    Best of times to you,
    tony

    Thanks Tony!!!

Sad thing is that I have not heard from the producer...he may not even want to use this tune! "We shall see...we shall see." said the blind man as he picked up his hammer and saw.

Oh, you know, hanging around, doing
a little tune here and there. Think you
might have missed these recent ones:

    The Emergence of Time
    The Discourse of Stars
    A Delectation of Woolgathering

Love to hear your thoughts when you
    get a chance.

Oh, this place is like family -- always
    good to come home to.

And you'll get back to the writing, no
doubt stronger than ever, Paul. The
first couple of semesters, you need to
get your feet on the ground -- but it
    really does get easier, thereafter.

And hey, c'mon, Paul! Gimme the
    skinny!
    What courses are you taking?
How are they going? Inquiring minds
want to know! Fill me in!

    Always my best,

Paul, this is lovely! it's light-hearted, it's playful, it fits the bill to a T.
It even has a bit of a rolly-polly Pooh-ish feel to it

Is there a pot of honey leitmotif in there as well?

    Cowboy, David, Tony, et al.

First the run-down of the classes...

Fall term...Writing seminar 110 (English comp), remedial math (oy! Written math skills! How fast they leave!!!), Materials of Music I, Aural Harmony I, Guitar, Class piano, and Jazz Band.

    The grades in the same order A, pass, A, B, A, A, A
All that got me into some sort of freshman honors society!

Short term...which is sort of a month long 1 class mini term. For that one I had to take Baroque Art of the 1600's because it was one of the only classes after all the seniors, juniors, and sophomores took all the cool classes like Philosophy in the Simpsons or Troy and the Trojan War!

Anyway, that one got me a B

Fall term...Writing Seminar 210, the next level of remedial math (last one! Then a regular math class!), Materials of Music II, Aural Harmony II, Health and Wellness, piano, Jazz Band, Jazz fusion, and lute (I had to drop lute because I had no time to practice! )

I am in the midst of the term...so no grades yet...we have about 5 weeks left in the term.

I will be doing homework tomorrow...but today is Garritan Forum Day!!!!

Things a crazy here, but going well!

Aside from all that...not a lot going on with me !

Next up listening to all David work that I have missed! That I am looking forward to doing!
