Smile My first CD is out! Feedback anyone?

I am excited about my first music CD that is now for sale on the web. I am not a professional composer as many of you are so your opinions and feedback are highly valued. It is a dream of mine to some day produce music of the calibur I find here on a daily basis. You can read the background info on the link page and hear up to the first two minutes of every track on the album. For all of the compositions I used Music Creator 2002 with Edirol Orchestral-HQ and VSC because that is all I had. I just installed Sonar 6 and I have Dimension Pro so my tools should reflect improvement in future work. I am anxious to use some of the Garritan samples in the near future. But this album reflects an accumulation of about 2 1/2 years of work so my second album may be a while coming.

    Enjoy...and...Thanks to all of you!

congratulations on the finishing your first project, I remember how it feels.

You have created some really nice soundscapes here, a great relaxation project. Should be good for Yoga etc.

What did you do about Mastering? as I think it needs a little work in this area.

If you run this through a Multipressor and Adaptive limiter after your mixing is done that should suffice in most instances, I rarely use EQ in my prjects.

I hope you find my words incouraging and not discouraging.

    Best wishes

Thank you SimonF for your comments. This product is just a CD-R. It has not been Mastered (yet). I noticed some distortion listening to the streaming audio that I can't hear by playing the original MP3's. But I think your suggestion to run it through an adaptive limiter is probably right on. I have had some hearing loss that may prevent me from noticing some aberrations that might be obvious to some of you. I don't know what a multipresser is. I grew anxious about some mistakes I had made in the digital info I sent to the distributor but now I think it may be a good thing that I can get good feedback from all of you before "casting it in stone" with the mastering process. I think some public feedback can do nothing but help. For now, the digital distribution of the CD is on hold.

    Hi PabloMack,

Don't forget that CDbaby will use very poor Mp3s on their own site due to bandwidth and to stop people just lifting them from the site.

So they most certainly will not sounds as good as your originals.

This article on the Sound on Sound website is very useful and it is this that I use as a basis for my mastering.

I hope you find that useful.
