Wink Palm Court Revisited ( GPO & JABB )

Here I offer a little demo of two Strads one cello one piano, and a bass trombone, seated in a Palm court back in the early 20th century.

Is there more? yes if commissioned

PALM COURT Revisited now with soured piano

Ray--Great entertainment, this. I Gotta play it for my fiance later today/night--It will be a good background to the beginning of a romantic evening I am sure.

"...Is there more? yes if commissioned..."

hehe--Nice work if you can get it. As someone who never makes money from writing music, I wish you the best on that.

I love to be surprised, and you keep surprising me, Ray--I never know what to expect from you, and am always impressed.

Nice writing but the interpretation sounds a little astmathic (sp?) to me. Would benefit a lot if the interpretation would have bigger musical bows.

    Randy, as usual I jest,
A hobby this is and a hobby it will stay.
I find it difficult doing anymore than demo length pieces as, what is the point in the finished article unless its for MONEY MONEY MONEY.
I've always been this way. merscenary.
    Charity begins at home.

    Hannes thanks for listening,
Excuse me while I use my puffer to be less astmathic.
I don't understand your point about the benifit of bigger bows, perhaps you could say in a different way that I might understand you.
I started this piece with no tune. I tried to develope a tune as I worked on it but with no great success. As usual I try to create the sound of an era using Garritan Libraries just for fun. I don't have the inclination to spend enough time to really do any genre justice. I'm too busy having FUN FUN FUN!

    Hi Ray,

what I mean is that you have put a nearly equal accent on *every* one of the melody.

I would try variations of that - give different accents that build up and go away again. With that you could help the phrase, and this would add a lot to your very well-written piece.

Hopefully I commented more clearly this time, if not then please write again.

    Hannes,

Thanks, now I understand your meaning.
Yes you are right, I have not spent enough time on each part as a solo instrument, where they would stand on their own. If I did that then I could put your advice into practice. Your observations are much appreciated.

    Hmmm ...

I am not sure I wrote it well since what I mean affects all instruments. Maybe because english is not my native language.

I think I will make a short demonstration if you don't mind.

On the mark with the atmosphere in this, Ray -- it's
perfect. About the only thing I'd change is maybe
add a few sour notes in the piano -- they were never
    all that well tuned... lol.

Seriously, given the stylistic range you've got (and
your [joking, I know] comment about being rather
avaricious when it comes to music) -- you probably
ought to be doing a little shopping around out toward...
what do they call that place, I always forget -- you
know, where they make the movies and all that?

    My best,
