Topic: Synth Drums

    Synth Drums

I've been looking for a good synth drum library or VST instrument. Anyone have any recommendations? A lot of the libraries I've checked sound too thin and tin-like (at least in the demos I've heard). I'm looking to more of a heavy/thick synth drum sound.

Also while I'm at it, anyone know of any percussion libraries that have loud percussion hits somewhat similar to Terminator 2 drums or that Harry Gregson Williams type of percussion hit sound?

After considering Bfd and Ezdrummer I decided to take a gamble on the new boys on the block, Xln's 'Addictive Drums'. All I can say is Wow! The interface, sounds and effects are just fantastic.
I can't recommend it highly enough!

    Hi Rogles,

Maybe that's not what you're looking for, but I think it's worth checking:
it's not a sample library, but a drum synth: http://www.e-phonic.com/plugins/

Both versions of Drumatic are different, but the two are great... and FREE!

For some stomps, plates, anvils and other percussion, have a look at G-Town percussion. It's available on Gigastudio and Wav format. You can import the gig files in Kontakt easily. It's here: http://www.legaltorrents.com/bit/g-t...es-gig.torrent (you'll need a bittorrent client to download it, so if you haven't one here's the best in my opinion http://azureus.sourceforge.net/download.php) G-Town is FREE too. But you have to try it, because it has a high quality. It seems like Danny Elfman used some samples from G-Town (stomps) for Hulk and Spiderman soundtracks.

    just my two cents.

Thanks guys. I'll check those out.

The drums in the DayDreamer audio demo for Addictive Drums sound very good.

For loud Hollywood-style percussion hits, Sam True Strike 2 is well worth a listen. Stunning!
