    Question Ethnic Choir

Does anyone know of a good ethnic choir library? I've been searching without any luck.

I've look at MOTU Ethno, Giovani, Symphonic Choirs... all too classical sounding. I'm working on a project and I need that 'world' sound. Female or children singing in a choir using chest voice... and not exactly in unison. Its hard to explain, but its a common thing, I just might not be explaining it right.
Or perhaps a childrens choir... but school children not singing perfectly on the same note... not actual singers... am I making sense

    Thanks,

    Re: Ethnic Choir

We (Spectrasonics) have two libraries that have several different ethnic multisampled choirs:

    Heart of Africa vol.1
    http://www.spectrasonics.net/libraries/africa1.php

    and

    Vocal Planet
    http://www.spectrasonics.net/libraries/vocalplanet.php
(The Gospel Choir is especially good for a stronger, more ethnic sound that is definitely not classical.)

If you only need children's choir phrases, there's also some good stuff on Heart of Africa vol.2

After getting Apple's Symphony Jam Pack, I was delighted to find some African singers, which includes a boys chior. If you want a mp3 sample, let me know.

    Re: Ethnic Choir

sure some mp3s would be great...

I think I am leaning towards buying Vocal Planet. Although I would like to hear the actual samples first...not just the demo. Which is one frustrating thing when buying libraries.... I would like to try them out first to make sure its what I need.

Wow! I didnt even know these existed! VERY COOL!!

Any plans on changing your "groove controlled" libraries into SAGE format for RMX? That would be REALLY interesting!

BTW, for those of us who dont own AKAI stuff, what are the benefits of getting the libs in that format over the audio CD?

That's amazing to me...because these are some of the most popular sample libraries ever made. Just shows how much the business has changed in recent years!

Already done. All the GC stuff has been presented as the SAGE Xpander series:

    Huge!

    • Software sampler compatibility
    • Usually MUCH more material (often double or triple the Audio version)
    • Multisamples on CD-ROM version only
    • etc, etc, etc.

I don't recommend the Audio versions for anyone other than someone with an MPC60 or similar one-shot sampler.

Forgive me...I'm relatively new to the world of samples and my focus has thus far been in the orchestral side. So I think its a matter of my ignorance rather than "how the business has changed."

Yeah, I've known of these, but was really referencing the Vocal libraries, particularly vocal planet. Boy would that be cool to play through RMX!!

Thanks for the info. Very cool!!

    Re: Ethnic Choir

All the Vocal Planet Groove Control material is on the Bonus Section of each Spectrasonics SAGE Xpander for RMX.

However, that is just a small part of the whole VP library....vocal percussion grooves only.

    Re: Ethnic Choir

While I love everything Spectrum (Spectrasonics) makes, there is a VERY GOOD children's choir available.

Bela D Media offers Giovani, Voices of the Young. It is SPECTACULAR!
