GPO/JABB K2 update and file path issues

Just downloaded and running the new full GPO (K2) and JABB (K2) in Finale
2007c.r2. (Not using HP, manual MIDI programming).

Tom Hopkins has addressed the default directory structure for me in a broader thread topic

Official KP2 release announcement for GPO and JABB

But I am now having trouble when opening an existing document in Finale. I am prompted to find many of the samples by a K2 dialog box as the Finale file loads. Apparently the path structure has changed and I manually had K2 search for all of the samples. But when I saved this Finale document and reopened it, the same query to find the samples came up.
(Major waste of time every time I open the file now.)

How can I tell K2/Finale where the samples now reside?
Interestingly, when I look at my folder/directory structure, nothing seems to have changed.

    Under
    "Applications"
    I have the following folders:
    1) "GPO K2 Library" (this was installed with the recalled release for K2, was working decently for my needs)
    2) "Garritan Personal Orchestra" (original for K1)
    3) "Garritan Jazz and Big Band" (orginal for K1 which now has K2 library under it by default from the installer)
    4) "Kontakt Player 2"

Please advise on how to remedy this cumbersome problem.

    Many thanks.

Re: GPO/JABB K2 update and file path issues

When the player pops up the dialog asking you to find the sample files by hand, I believe it tells you where it expects to find these.

What you'll need to do is make a copy of the .nks files and put them where the dialog is expecting them. This is specified as the 'Library Path' within the configuration of each plugin, and is the directory the contains the 'Instruments' and 'Multis' folders for each.

Re: GPO/JABB K2 update and file path issues

    Thanks.

Actually, I found a simple fix (an obvious one, I shot this query out too impulsively )

The new install for Kontakt 2 did not inherit the paths from the prior KP2 install (the buggy recalled one from a month or so back).

KP2 was looking by new default in my
"Garritan Personal Orchestra" (original for K1) folder.

    To fix,
    in KP2, I selected
the "Info" tab for the GPO Library on the left side of the player (the Library list) and specified the path properly here ("GPO K2 Library" for the new config.)

This small issue might affect other MacIntel users so please make
    note.

    All the best,

You'll then load the unofficial, buggy GPO KP2 instruments. To load the new, presumably bugfree, instruments, revert the path to "GPO Library".

Re: GPO/JABB K2 update and file path issues

    Thanks.

    I misread Tom's point. I guess I should delete/remove
    the
GPO KP2 Library folder from the prior installation[?].

Re: GPO/JABB K2 update and file path issues

Actually, this DOES NOT work for me.

KP2 does do not recognize the new samples under the GPO Library and Instruments folders...
they are greyed out when I try to manually point KP2 to them during a failed instrument "sample missing" load.

Did I mess things up by not uninstalling the original buggy GPOK2 first?

I am now stuck regarding the new GPO K2.

Please advise, I am at a loss.

    Thanks.

No. I didn't uninstall the buggy GPO KP2 either, and it works fine for me. Did you revert the GPO path to "GPO Library" in the Info tab? That should be enough, if you didn't move the .nks files. That is, if it works on a Mac, as it does on a PC.

Re: GPO/JABB K2 update and file path issues

    Thanks.

Yes, I did revert the path (under "info" tab) but the new KP2 2.2.2.001 does not recognize the new GPO instruments/samples which DO reside in the GPO Libr Folder.
It gives me a "samples missing" dialog box.

I CAN see the instruments/samples in the folder, but KP2 greys the samples out when I direct it from the "samples missing" dialog box.

I am corresponding directly with Tom on this as we speak.

Re: GPO/JABB K2 update and file path issues

Actually, for some reason I am missing the .nks files under the GPO Library folder.
    Just have the three .nkc's

(.nkc's from 3/16/07 [the earlier download] and .nks from 10/30/03 DO reside in the GPO K2 Library folder, my only working version of a KP2-compatible GPO.)

Move (or copy) them to GPO Library and you are back in business.
