    KP2 Update and Finale 2007

Has any of this to do with using the full version of GPO with Finale 2007, 2007b, and 2007c? Has the issue with Human Playback been addressed with this update? Is MakeMusic on board with this KP2 update and how it affects Human Playback.

I have had to do as many a ten uninstalls and reinstalls just to get Finale and GPO to work for me without crashing. Thus far nothing in the post about the KP2 update has provided any information regarding this matter.

I think in one of those threads it said they have an update for the human playback, and makemusic is final testing it, soon to be released.

    Hello Samantha,

The Human Playback fix isn't available yet but should be in a few days. The following links are to posts by Robert P.

However, if you use percussion regularly, there is now a problem with this in the new K2 player. To play soft timpani I had to use the K1 Player which coexisted happily with the previous K2 Player, but not any more. Tom has suggested a workaround of using EQ but I can't get it to sound as it did with K1.

I know you didn't ask about the percussion but to keep my reply accurate for the purpose of anyone who may read it, KP1 and KP2 can coexist happily but requires an easy(ish) adjustment.

The information about the percussions is alarming for me since I am in the mist of a very important project that has a June 30th deadline and I am percussions play a very important part in this composition.

Well, for me, the workaround is to have both KP1 and the new KP2 working together which, at first, wouldn't happen but now, with a little (ish) adjustment all is well and the two players co-exist perfectly.

For those who would rather use just the one player, Nickie has provided a download patch for the new K2 player.

I haven't actually tried Nickie's patch but I'm sure it's fine. I'll probably have a little try later and see how it goes. Either way we do have workarounds for the percussion problem until Tom is able to fix it.

The main question is: does all the articulations and expressions work in Finale 2007 using this new KP2 update. With the last unofficial one many of the articulation and expressions in Finale would work at all. In particular Pizz and arco for one.

I do believe that what you describe here is to do with Human Playback rather than the Kontakt Player. Hopefully all this will be resolved when Robert posts the mended HP on the MakeMusic site.

I know Robert has done extesive testing with the new Kontakt 2 Player and, in his posts, he reported HP is working 100%. Let's all hope HP and KP2 will all work problem-free together when we try them. It should only be a few days.
