The Great Waltz (Smith and Wayland)

For a year or two, I have been corresponding with a music student in England. I think he is now fourteen, maybe fifteen. His latest work for piano is

    The Great Waltz

To give him an idea of what development is possible with his idea, and with his consent, I did a set of variations on it. It was fun. Plenty of other variations came to mind, but these were quick and easy, so I did them.

    Sminny Waltz

Both mp3s were done by me, using the GPO Steinway.

The composer of the original is Peter G.G. Smith.

What a super project, Richard--And what a talented young man Peter is! His waltz is exuberant and with some very entertaining turns throughout. Your deconstruction of it was equally entertaining in a different way. Thanks for an unusual post from you!

Richard, that's a talented young fellow you're dealing with,
there; an engaging, delightful, and most ingenious waltz!

Most interesting variations in the Waylandized version!

Rendering on this is quite, quite good, by the way,
    Richard.

    Hello again, Richard

This Sunday morning I'm listening to both new posts here in The Listening Room as well as returning to some things I especially liked.

This project/collaboration is so unusual for this bulletin board, and I think it needs a larger audience--hence the bump.
