    Arrow Theater Sounds

How do engineers make a sound track very powerful with a lot of dynamic for the movies?

    Listen at this.....

The dynamics are very powerful even if you turn the volume down. Any tips to share?

    Thanks,

    Compress.

    Then compress some more.

Then whack on a limiter for good measure.

    Hey presto!

What you are asking for is lack of dynamics. It's just loud all the time. You're lucky if you like that kind of sound as that is what you get from tv, movies, games and albums. Unnatural, mangled noise.

I agree and I agree. It's just loud and loud some more.

That's a lot of compression. No plugin compressor that good. I haven't heard one anywhere as close as hardware. SSL stuff is amazing, but only a bank can buy it.

    UAD1!

Great compressors and a fantastic mastering tool in the Precision Limiter.

Does UAD compressors have side chain? Maybe not for everyone, but side chain is a must for me.

A compressor and limiter in each track.

Stereo enhancer in some subgroups and again 4band compressor and limiter. And at least, compressor and limiter in the main mix... .

Focusrite Liquid Mix should be nice. I don't have it yet myself but it's on my lengthy list.
