    Illustration Dance

    A day or two ago, in response to a question by Karvasika, Matthew Scott Phillips and I tossed out a few clues about melodic construction techniques we use. Last night, as an escape from the sound of a movie on the DVD, I busied myself with construction of a simple piece to illustrate what could be done with such simple guidelines.

    The annoying fact is, that it took about as long to upload the mp3 as it did to compose the piece!!

    The mp3, of course, is GPO Steinway. Input was via my Fatar controller keyboard, using Sonar, staff view.

    Very strange. It is there. I will investigate further. I get the message of no shared files!

    "No shared files" - yep, that's the message.

    You must have grabbed an old empty folder's URL--something like that. I look forward to when you find the right link.

    There's an unnecessary period at the end of the URL. It should read:

    It is a charming example of continually evolving variations that maintain unity across the changes.

    Richard,

    Nice piece you have put out for us. Light and free flowing!

    I took a look at your brother's site. Especially liked the painting at the top.

    An interesting elucidation of melodic ramifications, Richard;
    and unlike many such, much pleasure taken in hearing it.

    Re: Illustration Dance

    Well, thanks, David & Gary. It was intended to bright & cheerful, as well as fairly easy to play. It also was intended to illustrate the comments made by Matthew & me, although my comments have vanished.

    It also served to divert my attention from Buffy, fearless vampire killer!

    This is one of the very few times I have succeeded in writing something that I thought was simple to play as well as simple in concept.
