    Good Christian Men, Rejoice

    SECOND VERSION NOW LIS†ED HERE

I seem to recall certain things about the goal for the Christmas Album.
Is the content of this orchestration too busy for consideration or does it seem appropria†e.

Hi, Gary, that's what I like: a straightforward question to keep in mind as we listen! My answer: I'd prefer to hear each couple of lines done by consistent instrumentation -- in other words, to go longer each time before you make a change.

I think it is very unique - i like it.
Appropriate? Well, that is up to the producer(s) of the CD - i guess.

    BTW - What Christmas Album?

    Hi, Gary

This is an unusual arrangement of the carol. Interesting, and unique I'd say.

Since part of the idea of the Garritan Christmas CD is to ably demonstrate the various libraries, I am sure it would increase this piece's chances if you could conquer the technical issues of reverb and legato. The orchestration is episodic, and the phrases are short - smoothing some of that characteristic out with reverb and legato when its appropriate, I feel would be helpful additions.

Michael - Are you serious about asking what CD? My goodness! -Go catch up - Here's the Christmas CD thread in the General Discussion Forum:

Gary, this sounds nice. Some of it sounds very nice. I think that when introducing a new grouping of instruments, that the grouping should last for at least a couple of measures. I think that would give the instrument grouping a more sense of purpose. I don't know if I am explaining myself well on this. Anyway, it was nice to listen to. Thanks for posting.

    Thanks Jay,
I had one of my common practices in mind wi†h short s†atements by different instruments-introducing opposite tone colors.
I think that the objectives of writing for this CD are more abou† PLEASING TO THE EAR issues. I don't take issue with that since the objective is public consumption.

    Thanks for listening, Diligamus,
I began with a basic pattern of intro; strings; woodwinds; brass/s†rings and woodwind out. That seemed to be boring..
I will follow several posters suggestions since that was the point of my post.
