    Active (powered) Monitors

Not being an audio tech I am woefully uninformed about audio gear. I am considering switching from my amp/near field monitors (NS-10Ms)/ room monitors (Kilpsch Heresies) to a pair of active monitors. I have a small composition studio in a 10x11 room, no acoustic treatment.

Any recommendations for active monitors (under $1500/pair) would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

I have Mackie hr824s in a totally untreated environment and am very happy with the results I'm getting.
I really like these monitors and have been using them since 2002.

This has also been hugely debated many times in the Sonar forums. It might be worth doing a search there as well as any replies you receive here:

Well I finally settled on the Mackie 824s! They're great and I just wanted to say thanks to the guys on this forum who pointed me in the right direction.

    So...

    Thanks!
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice there is.

    Congratulations!

I'm also another happy Mackie 824 user! They're a good pair of monitors for the money spent.

    Have fun!
