Re: Vote for Orchestration Challenge 14!

    Great for everyone who entered!!!
It was so much fun to hear all!
Also really hard to decide... ... which one to eliminate...
    Each unique in another way...
But... it had to be done...
Thanks to all who worked so hard in so little time (that's why I didn't enter... I hate to be rushed... lol), and congrats to whoever will win!

Re: Vote for Orchestration Challenge 14!

These are all wonderful examples of what can be done with a simple melodic line. I am impressed!

My one question before I vote is:

Is this a one person, one vote challenge or can you vote for more than one?

I don't want to mess up my vote because of not knowing the voting procedure.

    Thanks,

    Hi, Rich

Isn't this great? The bundle of creativity and talent to be found here in the Garritan Forums membership is a constant inspiration.

I hesitated to submit this simple, diatonic lullaby-ish little theme, and so I played it for Sean first to get his opinion. He thought the idea of having something so unabashedly tonal would be a good change of pace, so I went ahead with it. Now we're all seeing how you can toss the simplest ingredients at the Musical Chefs here in our group, and they can really go to town.

In answer to your question about voting - here's what Mr. G himself said when he posted this voting thread:

    "...This is a "one-vote-per-person" poll..."

SO, that's that. You just gotta somehow choose only one of these pieces as the one that grabs you most.

Sean had a good point after a recent Challenge, that it's best to not comment on specific entries during the voting period, but it's safe to say that ALL of these are really interesting pieces of music - that is for sure!

My, that was a quick response Randy!

I see you picked up on the chef idea from another thread here.

Thanks for the answer. I guess I didn't read Gary's first post closely enough. My Bad!!

There should be one more choice in the list of voting, though....

    Many great music here!

I think it will become very exciting. The problem is that here also different musicstyles must compete next to each other..... .

A comparison between different compositions in only one musicstyle would be much easyer... . Perhaps an idea for the next challenge?

Re: Vote for Orchestration Challenge 14!

This morning, just for a break, I listened to all entries.
Some I like, some not. But it is really astonishing how much different styles and interpretations of that same theme are sent in. This is challenge#14. Why not compiling a CD of all winners. 14 hits!! make a complete CD.

It's a really difficult task this time! At least half of the participants deserve winning... anyway I did my duty

Re: Vote for Orchestration Challenge 14!

Excellent wish included with your bump, Bill - We have a record breaking number of entries, Great! - now let's have a record breaking number of voters!

I don't think it's ever been over 35 voters - There are hundreds of members here, and this event is at the Core of what's happening here at the Garritan Forums - It's all about making Music - SO, I'm pulling for the Forum to gather 'round and make this the biggest Challenge ever, in every way.

Lazy Guy Modern Impatient Type Person wish - It'd be cool if these were posted at a site like Box where music can be played instantly without any download time. It Does take awhile to hear all of these. I'm only 1/2 through the lot! But slowly, but surely, I'm giving each entry my full attention--And loving every minute of it.

    KEEP ON LISTENING and VOooooting!
