How does January 14th, 2008 sound as the new extended deadline? That's a super long time, so you can let your entry sit on the backburner even until the holidays are over. We can make that due date official in a few days as long as there are not a bunch of objections to it... let me know what you think!

Hi, Sean - I unhesitatingly jump in to say Yeah! to your new, delayed deadline. Your original question about elongating this Challenge period wasn't responded to - I sent you one direct email about it - I think people weren't quite sure what to think of the idea.

But now that all sorts of end-of-the-year type deadlines are piling up for a lot of people, this delays definitely sounds like a good idea.

SO, there you have my vote in favor.

I was just thinking earlier today how I didn't think I would have time to participate in this challenge. Well, I’ll put my vote in and “third” the idea of January 14.

I don't understand what the big deal is. we can't get 2 r 3 projects done in a 2 month period. Everyone has known about the Christmas CD since las December. Everyone has known about Halloween (which may or may not be a competition -- nothing has been said!). Deal wiht original deadlines. That's life!

I agree. I am unclear as to why all the whining as to deadline. But I will respect whatever decision is made. You know, this used to be a lot simpler...

I'm going to vote yes to the extended deadline. I think, for whoever is the winner of the next challenge, winning from a large pool of entrants would be better than winning from just a few.

So is that a yes or a no?

Just messin, i can see it's a nay vote.

...but if it were a job, you would be getting paid money and maybe even free tickets to the opera or a ball game, whereas this is just a friendly competition for fun with flexable deadlines.

I vote both ways. On the one hand, I had my arrangement done a week ago. On the other hand, the kindly postman just delivered my GPO today so I could use some time to learn how to use it.

I would like the delay - I want to participate but simply don't have the time while I am recovering from a year of unemployment. Currently more work than I can shake a stick at

This is a bit different because no deadline has been set in stone yet, no deadline is "given"... we get to decide it for ourselves. I originally suggested October 14th as the deadline which would match the normal amount of time these challenges go on, but the only feedback was that that probably wouldn't be enough time (which, as far as I can remember, as never been the majority response). My guess, based on personal experience, was that this was because of the season and the holidays coming up rather than just a coincidence of a fair amount of people being busy at the same time, thus I suggested that this round (in addition to probably all future rounds that start near this time) be held longer in hopes to make this round more like the other rounds... not in terms of actual time, but in terms of how much free time potential participants have.

Anyway, it's hard to see what the consensus is regarding this issue... Seems almost split! My opinion count comes up as (counting fiziwig on both sides ):

Originally suggested deadline, Oct 14: 4
Other longer suggested deadline, Jan 14: 6

    Is that right?

Thanks for posting your thoughts and I encourage anyone who hopes to participate in this challenge to do the same!

Or am I making too big a deal of this and we can just let the challenge theme writer decide?
