    Anyone going for Kontakt 3?

The only thing thing that would tempt me to upgrade is the library since my Kontakt libraries are limited.

I'm going to pass on this one for now. Just added CoMB and Sonar 7 to my stable. That's enough to keep me busy for awhile.

Personally, I'm waiting for caller IQ.

No, I think I'm going to hold off until I learn how others' experience with it is. My set up is working nicely now and I'd hate to throw a monkey wrench at it. I like to be on the cutting edge, but not the bleeding edge.

    K3 arrived here yesterday.
Most news are important for developers and will affect upcoming libraries.

The K3 library is very nice, especially the brass.
Guess who produced the horns. ;-)

So I take it that it removes the old version of Kontakt.

I purchased Kontakt 2 just 7 weeks ago, on discount, with a free instructional video. But I haven't loaded it yet, still waiting to save enough money for a new computer. I'd like to upgrade to Kontakt 3, but I guess I need to buy the new computer, install and register Kontakt 2 and then upgrade.

No, its a complete new folder.
Kontakt2 and its library stay untouched.
So, no risk to loose anything, you can even open K2 ad K3 at the same time.

Anyway, if you ever do a Kontakt update within one version, lets say from K3.0 to 3.1 you better rename the old program file.
NI always labels the program files Kontakt2 or Kontakt3 but every version in between overwrites the last one.
So, by renaming the old version you are always save not to loose something.

I always rename the program file right after installing to its correct version like Kontakt2-1 or Kontakt 3-0. (I think its not god to use dots here)

    Hi Chris,

When you say "rename the old program file" are you talking about the folder itself?

No, just rename the program file itself.
I only know that for Mac, don't know how that works on PC.
If you dublicate and rename any program on a mac, you can open both version at the same time.
That can be usefull if you have enough ram installed and want to break the 32bit limit of 2.6Gb.
