ASSERT NO EVIL ---- Finished, I'm done

No more. 2 straight weeks of grueling work seemed worth it. Definately feels worth it now. I hope its to everyone's liking.

People have frequently asked how I get my inspiration.

By listening to other composers is definately one way.

The following clip here is a comparison of Assert No Evil with a segue into Mahler Symphony VII Mvt. I clip.

I liked the second half better, but then I like fast cars, fast women and fast music. Well done

Ben, great to see you back in play with a completed orchestral
    work, once again.

Fine job on this! I think the part that I found the most interesting
was the segment where you go into the tock-tock-tock clock-like
routine... but the almost tragic love theme (I assume) of the opening
half is also very well made -- some great string handling in that.

Techically, managing such broadly contrasting material within one
relatively shorter piece can be quite a challenge -- something I think
you handled very well in this.

    Much applause!

    Best,

I'd say you heeded Master Yoda's advice to "do, or do not", and you did! An exceptional piece of work. Very nice indeed.

fiziwig - Ironically enough, my senior yearbook, class of 2006, my sernior quote, under my sernior picture
I know its on my signature, but I have to post it here anyway
"Try? No, try not. Do, or do not. There is no try." ~ Master Yoda

I truly live by that code, and I quote it all the time. George Lucas is a genius.

    rolifer -
Amen to that, except the fast women part, I'm waiting for someone special. And my car is exceptionally slow. But my music is often fast. I too enjoy fast music. I also like fast cheese. Anytime I can get my hands on some cheese, I'm on it. you dig???

    - Always an honor to have you listening to my music David. Much appreciated that you seem to always take the time to listen to the work of an amature like me even with you being as renowned as you are. Thanks again David.

The tick-tock portraying the tragic love melody along with the ticking away of the little time we have left together. She leaves me forever in February of '08, and the other night I cried. She hasn't left yet and I already find myself weeping from having lost her.

Off topic about the final scene- A lot of people think the end is abrupt. But if you can picture the final scene, where she is finally leaving me, I am angry and torn apart inside by bitter-sadness. The french horns are her crying out to me, telling me how much she loved me and that she will never forget the beautiful friendship we had, while the percussive hits are me telling her she cant and musn't go.

The final hit of the percussion is her closing the car door to leave. Her driving away though, I don't portray because I don't watch her drive away, because I love her too much to ever say goodbye.

To help put things into greater perspective, if I were to name the individual sections, like short segue movements, I'd probably label them as follows.

    Beautiful Friendship

---Seems as though it will never end, but all good things come to an end.

    Adventurous Companion

---Showing me things about the world I've never before noticed, or experienced

    Running Out of Time

    ---As David said, the tick-tock.

    No Goodbyes

    --- see above

Ben, thank you for such kind words; but lest misconceptions
arise, I must note I am likewise not a professional musician
(I run a software company); and the extent of my "renown" is
best described as unknown, worldwide... rofl!

I've been at it a while, though; and I think I know good stuff
when I hear it. Keep it coming!

You have a website with your name. I can't even get that kind of attention.

    What sort of software??

Nothing that interesting; small tools for web-builders.

There are many here on the forum who would be happy to
give you the low-down on getting a website. It's not that
    expensive or all that difficult.

I believe your name is available (check www.GoDaddy.com).
