Here is my "You're Not The Bossa Me".
It is partial GPO and JABB. It is lengthy. Nevertheless, I hope that you like it.
My best to all,
Good morning, Larry
OK--no joshing Southern references from me this time (as per my banter about my Oklahoma and Larry's Texas on the 'Fret Friends' thread) We have gone a through a Major shift into Bossa Nova-land this time.
And what a mmmmm nice transition it is. In your post when you mentioned that it's long, and then I looked at the MP3 player, seeing that the song is over 6:00 --I thought, --now Why would something like this be so long?
But now I've heard it -SO great - The succession of JABB solos is so fun, each one sounds very good, and hence the length - You could've kept this up for twice the length or more, adding even more solos!
Did you use a BIB-type template for the rhythm section and improvise on it? Curious about how you went about working on this project.
Very cool, Larry - Thanks!
I like your bossa mr larry. I am not recognizing the main melody instrument. It sounds like a cross between flute and organ or something. Anyway, it is a nice song.
If a composition sounds too long then it most probably isn't interesting enough. But that's not the case here. It just glides smoothly across the minutes... The only thing I would change is the ending... something is missing there.
Thanks for these enjoyable 6+ minutes.
This sound and the instrument at the beginning, flute-like instrument always makes me picture the Price Is Right. I love that music. It's so chill-axin.
May the Fourth Be With You
CAJ and I really like this. I agree that the interplay between the various instruments is a nice touch. I envy your melodic inventions.
As a suggestion and not a criticism, I would have liked to heard a longer section of pure ensemble (my big band background) and I agree that it needs a more convincing wind up. It doesn't have an ending, it just quits, sorta like PE, leaving us wanting more.
Thanks for evidence that us old dogs can still learn a few new tricks.
Thanks for listening and for your nice comments, everybody.
Very enjoyable Larry:
If you wouldn't mind,,,send me an email about how you created it.
