    Whistles?

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know of samples of human musical whistles. You know like in "Standing On the Corner" from back in the 60's I want to create a track where the melody can be created with human whistles.

    Thanks

    Why not record your own?

I'm working on a comedy drama series at the moment where whistling is a major feature of the score. Examples below.

    Title music:

    Cue:

For the past few months my lips have been permanently pursed.

I particularly like the CUE one.
But some people (like me) can't whistle :-), my kids make fun of me all the time. I too would love to be able to purchase a whistle library.

Ah, I didn't think of that.

Hmmm, maybe there's a gap in the market for all those whistling samplists out there.

    Symphony of Voices has Whistles.

Probably overkill just for whistling though.

They're group whistles though, not individual. More of an effect really.

    Re: Whistles?

Well you could buy a synthesizer and synthesize your own, and then when you need any other sound you can't find a samples of, you'll have an instrument that can fill in. That's what I used when I wanted an Ennio Morricone style whistle.

    Synthesizers! The forgetten instrument.

    Re: Whistles?

Sometimes it's nearly impossible to immitate the real thing, in the case of a human whistle, I've been through that luckily a friend in the company was a pretty good whistler, I asked him and it did the job. Funny to say but I think a professional whistler wouldn't sound as natural as an every day Joe whistler.

If you want to check out the result, I did this for a Hershey commercial,
just click on commercial then Hershey's Cocoa Commercial.

Guy, I think that you were just lucky. I can whistle pretty well, but as soon as the red light goes on, I can't do it....!
