"The Horns Are Coming...The Horns Are Coming"

    Y'all All,

I wrote "The Horns Are Coming...The Horns Are Coming" this morning.

I hope that you like it. All instruments are GPO.

    Regards to everyone,

I do love a good horn piece. This very mellow with an almost hymn-like quality. I like it very much.

Thumbs up Re: "The Horns Are Coming...The Horns Are Coming"

Very smooth, reminds me of passages sung by a barberhop quartet (though this three ranges not four, right?) I wish i could write for horns like that, it would indeed be a pleasure. Fine writing and rendering, Larry!

No, this is a four-part composition.

If you would like to "write for horns like that", then do some writing for horns and it'll come.

Thanks very much for your comments, Mr. Dave.

I don't use a notation program. My sequencer is Sonar 7 from Cakewalk. My sample player, that I insert into Sonar 7, is Kontakt 2.

    Glad you liked it. Thanks.

    What fun!

I am an old former french horn player - no more - chops have long vanished with age. Great little tune, Larry. I do so like the way you write.

I tried for some realism and sonority. I hope that I succeeded to at least a small degree. There's nothing quite as ballsy as a horn section in an orchestra. I love to hear horns playing so loudly that their bells vibrate.

I spent part of my radio broadcasting career in Louisville, Kentucky. It's a great city with wonderful people.

I'll bet that your chops would still allow you to "cut it".

Thank you for the kind words.

    Regards,

    Nice composing Larry.

You said that in an orchestra..... "I love to hear horns playing so loudly that their bells vibrate".

The dynamics in this seemed fairly constant. I'd like to hear their bells vibrate as well. JMHO

    Well Done
    Ron
