    Keyboard question

I am thinking of replacing my old Yamaha DX7 keyboard to something newer!

Have been looking at M-Audio Keystation Pro 88.
Has anyone any experience of it together with GPO, JABB, Gofriller & Strad?
Have read that M-Audio doesn´t have aftertouch. Is it so or...?
Both Gofriller and Strad needs aftertouch as I understand it.

Thanks, but 88 keys is essential when the new Steinway arrives.

    Re: Keyboard question

Yamaha supposedly has a newer 88 weighted out ( it might be a yr. or so old ) that is rumored to be very good action and also in the $900.00 price range.

I've got an S90 and I love it.

I'd give your local store a call and see if they know anything.

    Re: Keyboard question

Other ones to try which I have used before to great satisfaction:
    - CME UF8: CHinese made.. I got one of the earlier batches and the quality is rather poor, but the keyboard is very very good! They now have the VX series with motorised controllers, or the ZSC series which offers weighted keyboard on different sizes

    - Kurzweil: the 88note weighted versions of all Kurzweil keys are good too, but slightly lighter than the CME UF8... Its still very good though, and having been on this Kurz (PC-1x) for a few months I am starting to like its action over the CME UF8...

    Enjoy...

I get along fine with 60 keys. All you need is an octave switch button.

    Re: Keyboard question

I was looking at S90ES, but in my country it costs $3.500 comparing with the Audio Keystation Pro 88 $620.

Furthermore, I am not interested in keyboards with sounds, only an
88-keyboard that will work perfect together with Garritans products.

I am using Roland RD-100 stage piano but have to use an M-Audio Oxygen 8 to input Mod Wheel and Pitch Bend. I am thinking of switching to the M-Audio Prokeys 88SX because it has 88 keys (I think essential) plus mod wheel and pitch bend wheel. Plus it's inexpensive and much lighter in weight. The keyboard is even weighted (semi-weighted). I, too, don't need any sounds from the keyboard. And the price seems right.

    Best of luck!

The CME keyboards have grown up and are worth looking at. Also the Studio Logic series has a great weighted touch on its 88 key keyboards. http://www.studiologic.com . I'm not sure if they have aftertouch though...

    Good luck!

    Re: Keyboard question

Thank you everyone for your input.

I found out that M-Audio 88 don´t have aftertouch. Many users also have complaints regarding the keys and the feeling.

I now have ordered the new CME UF80 which seem to be a very nice one with lots of functions that will be good for my work with Garritan libraries.
