Hi David,
I really like your quintet.

Thanks much, Gary. With all the work you've done
with woodwinds, I really appreciate that.

As I was listening, at first I was struck where all the sounds seemed to blend and come togeher. Toward the end, I had impressions of my Granddaughter's farm set with strong colors of blues; greens; bright red.
The tempo variations meshed without a seam.

Interesting impressions! This always intrigues me,
the "aura" people get around a piece. For me, this
has a lot of deep greens and red in it, as well.

Tempo is something I pay a lot of attention to in a
rendering -- managing it well really adds a great deal
to a piece, even a little work like this.

I've been waiting for a new piece from you, and this is wonderful. Lots of humor, spice, and great writing!

All the instruments stand out so nicely, yet the ensemble sound gels like a tasty pasta sauce clinging to whole wheat linguini. Yum!

Superb work, my friend! If I can get my oboe chops back, I'd like to give your piece a whirl --- No spoon needed, just slurp away!

Richard, my friend, pleased you stopped in for taste
of the sauce...

Wonderful, David. I enjoyed hearing this. I liked the use of all the instruments, I jsut hope the clarinet is not the onion!

Well, of course not! Why, that would be just silly... anyone
can plainly hear that the clarinet is the gooey, slimy oil... lol.

The texture and the weave of the piece is a great lesson in counterpoint. I'm sorry I hadn't heard this sooner. As, usual, your talents show strong in this piece. Thanks for sharing it.

And thank you, Rich. We'd probably get hollered at for calling
it counterpoint (though I think of it that way, as well); but,
yes, dialogue, certainly... the play between the voices is
what makes it all tick.

Now, if you will excuse me, I have a tomato sauce to go make....

Great stuff, Mr Lux - I wish my onions sounded like that.

Gosh, Viv, I should think your onions would outdo my
onions, any day of the week...

It's very interesting to play this in Windows Media Player while watching the illustrations it generates for itself. For the oil, it chose a runny dribbly thing, and by the time we got to the tomatoes it had churned everything up and round and round, ending up with a swift descent in a tubular thing, presumably into the alimentary canal.

Interesting! I gotta go try that..

As Gary said - Burp ! An excellent meal all round.
