    OT: New track

    Hi all,

I have a new track for you to listen to should you feel like it.

It is a chilled number and is my latest track done this week and is called "Pheromones"

It is at the bottom of the page in new compositions and scroll down a bit.

I use Wimpy player so I can't post direct links.

    I hope you enjoy it.

It goes on a bit Simon. Maybe a shorter version would be easier on the ear for the listener. Nice sound though and quite interesting in places. I liked the beat.

    Hi Paul,

I had not planned for it to be just over 4 mins it just happened that way. I will think about editing it in the next few days.

On other forums it has been given good feedback and not mentioned it's length.

Everyone has a point of view and I will certainly give it some thought and try it.

    Re: OT: New track

Simon - don't take any of this the wrong way. When you ask people, especially jaded musos on a muso forum to listen - it's a tough scene. (Moot point coming - I like to pretend to myself that most of them are actually musicians )

With this type of music and sound, in my view you need to give the listener a break and make it shorter and have different things coming and going. There are, for instance, no lyrics for a listener to grab, therefore it's that much more difficult to get them to retain any sustained interest.

A discipline maybe, to choose a palette of instrumentation from the start and stick to it - no adding later. Choose a finite amount of time a piece will last and stick to that - say for this type of musical style anything from 30 seconds to 90 seconds. That is plenty. That will make you think more about what you're doing imo. Always leave the bastards wanting more - hey! I want to hear some more please.

Hi Paul, that is good advice!

I try not to take anything the wrong way on a forum, I posted it for peoples opinions and that is then open to all comments and crit.

It is refreshing to have something new said and gives me a chance to improve on my writing.

    Many thanks for the advice

    Hi Simon,

I think I have listend to it in another forum.... .

I like the style where the guitars and trombone is playing, it`s cool. Reminds me a little bit to Steve Vai...

    Hi Gunther,

Yes you have heard this somewhere else. Thanks for listening again.

Maybe I need to check Steve Vai, I know the name but not the music.

    Best wishes
