    Darbuka ... dead?

Having recently upgraded to Sonar 7, I come to find out there is a bug that causes Darbuka ( and Latigo ) to crash on inserting the plugin into a project.

A few forum posts and emails to customer support (both Cakewalk and M-Audio, the owners of Darbuka) it came up that the products have been discontinued!

This is a crying shame. I mean, I use Stylus quite extensively and I love it but these programs had a unique approach to doing percussion ensembles in a couple of niche genres.

I do a lot of Middle Eastern influenced work and use Darbuka (sometimes alongside Stylus and/or EZDrummer) in about 90% of my projects.

If someone knows otherwise please tell me I'm wrong.

Wizoo, the original creators of Darbuka and Latigo, was acquired in August 2005 by Digidesign

I believe most of the original team is working as part of Digidesign's A.I.R. group, and some are working for Hans Zimmer.

I don't see them listed anymore at the M-Audio website (M-Audio just distributed them, they never developed them)

Did you get the updates at http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?q=d...imageField.y=0

I'm using the RTAS version in the latest version of Pro tools on a mac, so I think it's yet completely defunkt.

They are no longer developing it so if you have an intel Mac you are out of luck.

I use the program a lot too. I run it in V-Stack on a separate dedicated PC.

It's a shame when a decent instrument is abandoned. Same thing happened to me with Xphrase. A lot of Steinberg instruments seem to go that route. THe Wizoo sounds model had so much potential for downloading inexpensive great sounding instruments... Anybody else have any favorites that have gone by the wayside?
