    Why conductors' brains are different from the rest of us

    Our brains can turn down our ability to see to help them listen even harder to music and complex sounds, say experts.

    A US study of 20 non-musicians and 20 musical conductors found both groups diverted brain activity away from visual areas during listening tasks.
    Scans showed activity fell in these areas as it rose in auditory ones.
    But during harder tasks the changes were less marked for conductors than for non-musicians, researchers told a Society for Neuroscience conference.

    Kinda interesting. Maybe it is because the conductors and band directors have a player attached to each sound, and written notes. How a player is bowing a string instrument or stopping a horn is effecting the sound, so maybe the conductors have adjusted their minds to where sight is always acompaning sound.

    A fundamental difference arises in the conductor's brain, wherein the Central Suculus
    succumbs to the influence of the Superior Frontal Gyrus, causing excessive arm-waving
    and triggering the Posterior Ramus to gyrate the conductorus rumpus on each downbeat;
    whereupon the Inferior Temporal Gyrus impinges a nuerological deficit in the Corpus
    Callosum which causes the unhealthy pallor exhibited during Mozart pieces.

    This is why orchestras have concertmasters.

    If we're making fun of conductors now...

    What is the difference between an orchestra and a bull?

    On a bull, the horns are in the front and the ~~~~~ is in the rear.

    Of course, I think the horns should be in the front of orchestras as well.
