    Arrow "Woodwind Quintet Number Five"

    Y'all All,

Here is my "Woodwind Quintet Number Five".

I originally wrote it as a work with no pauses. Because of its length, I found it necessary to divide it into two parts. My music website administrator won't allow large music files.

All of the instruments (flute, oboe, Bb Clarinet, horn and bassoon) are GPO.

    "Woodwind Quintet Number Five"
    Part One (04:50)

    "Woodwind Quintet Number Five
    Part Two (05:47)

    Regards,

    Larry

What a delightful piece with such spirit and liveliness! I especially liked the clarinet part that starts at about 3:30 in the first part. There is an interesting change in harmonic texture that comes into the second part. A long piece but never monotonous. I had to smile at several places and give it a second listen before writing this.

Nice work on this, Larry. I think you were born
with woodwinds in your mouth. All five of them.
Seriously, if I had to pick amongst the things
you do best, it would be the handling of winds.

    My best,

Very cool larry. It is nice hear the occasional unaccompanied instrument. It adds a nice contrast. Well done sir.

    Hi Larry,

Just great stuff! I definitely hear all the "Larry-isms", harmonically and melodically throughout -- definitely a compliment to your unique voice and style. As usual: expertly done, my friend!

nice again larry, nice use of hocket, nice melodies, good counterpoint, for my ears a slow section that is sentimental and shows off the quintet as a choir of voices would be a welcome repose from the driving rhythms. Best wishes, John

Thumbs up Re: "Woodwind Quintet Number Five"

Beautiful! Larry, I particularly love the song of the Clarinet that starts about two-thirds of the way through, on part one. That part had me backing up the little slider several times for re-listening, but i liked all of both parts, very nice!
